  • HOW LONG BEFORE THE WORK BEGIN?
    Typically, 2 to 3 weeks after the contract is signed
  • HOW LONG WILL THE WORK TAKE TO COMPLETE?
    Siding: Typically, 7 to 10 days. Depends on the amount and type of siding, layout of the home and the weather. Windows: Typically, 2 days. Depends on the number of windows, and the type of windows to be installed.
  • DO WE NEED TO BE AT HOME WHILE THE WORK IS BEGIN DONE?
    Siding: It is not necessary while the work is being performed. It can be helpful to be there when the day work begins to make sure any questions can be addressed. Windows and Doors: Yes, it is preferred, because we will need access inside the home.
  • WHEN REPLACING SIDING, IS ALL THE OLD SIDING REMOVED ON THE FIRST DAY?
    No, we work the home in sections trying to take off only what we can replace in a day
  • HOW IS THE NEW SIDING ATTACHED ON THE WALLS?
    We use corrosion resistant nails from a pneumatic nail gun.
  • WHAT KINDS OF NAILS DO YOU USE?
    Electro-galvanized roofing nails for blind nailing. Double hot dipped galvanized nails for exposed nailing. Stainless steel nails near the coast.
  • WHAT COLORS ARE AVAILABLE?
    James Hardie®, ColorPlus® siding has 15 standard colors to choose from. Primed Hardie Plank can be painted virtually any color.
  • WHAT KIND OF PAINT DO YOU USE?
    Sherwin Williams.
  • HOW IS THE PAINT APPLIED?
    Most areas will be applied with spray guns. Some confined and smaller areas may be rolled and all jobs may have brush work for detailed painting.
  • HOW DO YOU KEEP THE RAIN WATER FROM GETTING INTO THE HOUSE?
    The siding is designed to take the brunt of the water. The moisture barrier in conjunction with flashing and window tape keep the water from getting into the wall cavity.
  • WILL IT PROTECT MY HOUSE IF IT FLOODS?
    No, Siding systems are designed to shed the water down the walls. It will not stop rising water from major or localized flooding.
  • HOW DO YOU MANAGE THE DISCARDED CONSTRUCTION DEBRIS?
    Most of our crews have a dump trailer that they will park on site. Our crews pick up and clean up every day to keep your home site as neat as possible. After the completion of the job, they will run a magnetic nail sweep over the yard.
  • HOW MANY HOUSES DOES THE CREW WORK ON AT THE SAME TIME?
    We schedule our crew so they are on only one home at a time.
  • IF YOU DO FIND DAMAGE BEHIND THE OLD SIDING IS THAT STILL COVERED OR ARE THERE ANY ADDITIONAL CHARGES?
    Minor damage can usually be handled with the scope of the contract. If we get into a large area of damage or defects there may be an additional cost.
  • DO YOU WORK ON THE WEEKEND?
    Saturday is usually a work day for us. We rarely work on Sundays and only upon customer approval.
  • WHAT KIND OF INSPECTIONS ARE REQUIRED BEFORE AND AFTER WORK IS COMPLETED?
    That depends upon local municipality. Some cities only require a permit fee. Coastal areas may require a T.D.I. Windstorm inspection. Houston Siding will take care of obtaining permits and inspections.
  • ARE ALL PERMITS AND INSPECTIONS INCLUDED?
    It is not part of the base price but can be included in the price.
  • HOW DO I HANG THINGS ON MY NEW SIDING?
    If it is something light weight, like a temperature sensor, simply use a coarse screw. If it is something with some weight, like a hose reel, it will need to be attached to the framing behind the siding.
  • WHAT IS LOW E HOUSE WRAP?
    A radiant barrier house wrap with a foil backing. It is a certified moisture barrier.
  • WILL NEW WINDOWS REDUCE OUTSIDE NOISE?
    Double pane windows do a great job in reducing noise.
  • HOW TO DO YOU REPLACE WINDOWS IN A BRICK-FACE HOME?
    Our installer will remove the glass from the window then they collapse the frame to remove it.
  • HOW DO YOU WORK AROUND PLANTS?
    Because most homes have flower beds right up next to the home, we cannot avoid them. So, we try to cover, protect, or pull back out of the way as best we can. No matter how careful we are, we have to get into the flower beds to work and some damage may occur.
  • WHAT ARE YOUR WARRANTIES?
    Our standard labor warranty is 5 years plus whatever manufacturer warranty applies.
  • DO YOU REPLACE INSULATION IF IT IS BAD OR MISSING?
    Yes, a small amount is included in the price. Larger areas of insulation will be replaced at an additional cost.
  • DO I NEED TO DO ANY PREPARATIONS BEFORE THE WORK BEGIN?
    Yes, if any of the exterior walls have pictures or shelves on them, you may want to remove them so they will not fall during construction. If you have something that is not on an outside wall and are concerned about it, please remove it.
  • BECAUSE HARDIPLANK@ SIDING IS CONCRETE, WILL THE WEIGHT OF IT AFFECT THE STRUCTURE OF MY HOUSE?
    Absolutely not. HardiePlank® siding weighs 2.3 lbs per square foot. That is about the same weight as 5/8" thick sheetrock. It has been installed on over 5.5 million homes and the weight of the product has never been an issue.
  • AFTER THE NEW SIDING IS INSTALLED, DOES IT NEED TO BE PRIMED BEFORE IT IS PAINTED?
    No, all Hardi material comes pre-primed from the factory. It is ready for painting when it is applied to the house./p>
